The toaster has a baking area so that food can be toasted and baked by means of halogen lamps. The toaster has an area (2) having a turntable (4) having a heating plate. The area has halogen lamps (5) which are located on or above the turntable to provided a heat registration sector (6). The halogen lamps (5) are arranged in a circular ring with a distance to the turntable being outside of the heat registration sector. The halogen lamps are on arc on the heat input sector.
