Print media usage measuring system for e.g. newspaper, has detection modules with scanner and optical character recognition units for detecting characteristics to identify contents parts of print media object

The system has detection modules (1, 1`) with a scanner (11) and optical character recognition units (12) for detecting identification data defining contents parts of a print media object. A communication module (16) is connected with the modules to transmit print media-/usage data containing the characteristics, to a computerized evaluation unit (2) over a communication network (3), where the usage data are acquired by a reader during reading. The unit has evaluation modules for production of a usage profile for the object based on the usage data and on the content parts. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring usage of print media.
