A turbo decoder structure for a software-defined radio system is provided to decrease a power consumption of the turbo decoder structure by activating a minimum amount of hardware of the structure. A turbo decoder structure for a software-defined radio system includes an RF(Radio Frequency) transceiver and a turbo decoder(100f). The RF transceiver receives an input wireless signal and generates a down-converted signal. The turbo decoder is reconfigured to receive a soft input data sample. The turbo decoder receives soft input data samples. N processors are driven to be independent from one another to decode the received soft input data sample. While a second processor is turned off, a first processor is selected by N processors(430a-430d), so that the received soft input data sample is encoded.
