PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve service property to a user while reducing the work load of service by updating firmware of an image forming device on the user side. SOLUTION: When a firmware version is updated by a service from a manufacturer by use of an operation part 30 of the image forming device in updating the version of firmware of the image forming device, a CPU 72 copies the current firmware (Ver1) to a nonvolatile memory 73, and updates the current firmware (Ver1) by use of firmware (Ver2) in an SD card inserted to a memory card slot 29. When the user starts update processing of the updated firmware (Ver2), the CPU 72 copies the firmware (Ver2) to the nonvolatile memory 73, and updates the firmware (Ver2) by use of the firmware (Ver1) in the nonvolatile memory 73, whereby the image forming device can be operated.
