PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of jam due to defective separation of an image forming substance formed on a recording material spreading from a leading edge to a trailing edge of the recording material by satisfactorily separating the image forming substance from the recording material. SOLUTION: The image stripping apparatus is provided with: a stripping member with adhesive strength to the image forming substance on an image formed on the recording material; a superposing means to superpose the stripping member and the recording material; an adhering means adhering the image forming substance on the recording material on to the stripping member by pressurizing the stripping member and the recording which are superposing by a superposing means; and a separating means separating the stripping member and the recording material from each other which are superposed by the superposing means. The separating means is provided with a separating member having a larger separating angle to the stripping member in a part excluding the vicinity of the leading edge of the recording material than the separating angle to the stripping member in the vicinity of the leading edge of the recording material.
