PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress increase of torque load at a kneading step due to an excessive filler effect of a toner composition and enhancement of hardness in pulverizability at a pulverization step, and to obtain a toner which avoids filming on a photoreceptor and retains stable charging property and fluidity even after long-term use. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing the toner is provided with: a step of adding part of an external additive to pulverized powder; a step of performing classification after the addition; and a recycle step of returning a fine powder component whose particle size is outside a predetermined range by the classification to a kneading step, wherein the internal addition amount X of the external additive contained in the toner is confined to the range of 0.2-3.0 parts by weight when the amount of the toner components (excluding the external addition amount) is considered to be 100 parts by weight, by controlling the amount A of the external additive added at the step of adding part of the external additive and the ratio B between the amount of the fine powder component returned at the recycle step and the amount of a virgin toner composition (containing no recycled component) (B=fine powder component/(recycled fine powder component+virgin components)).
