PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure an evacuation place for a recording paper without separately preparing it, and also, without making a printer larger in the printer which repeatedly performs printing by making the roll-form recording paper reciprocate. SOLUTION: This printer includes a rolled paper holder, a discharging path, a recording paper housing section, and a switching guiding section. In this case, the rolled paper holder holds the roll-form recording paper. The discharging path discharges the recording paper to the outside of the printer. The recording paper housing section temporarily houses the recording paper. The switching guiding section guides the leading end of the recording paper by switching the discharging path and the recording paper housing section to either one of them. In the printer, the recording paper housing section is formed of at least a part of the outer periphery of the roll-form recording paper. The switching guiding section is installed on the downstream side of a head, and switches a motion for making the recording paper temporarily evacuate by guiding the recording paper to the recording paper housing section side, and a motion for discharging the recording paper to the outside of the printer by guiding the recording paper to the discharging path side by the switching motion.
