PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple filter used for pre-filtering in a circulating filter for water in a bath room or the like, which can surely remove solid foreign matters and sheet-like foreign matters besides fibrous foreign matters such as hair, is hardly clogged and can be easily cleaned. SOLUTION: The simple filter is made by inserting a filter element (2) into an overcoat container (1). The filter element (2) is provided with a two stage filtering structure comprising a bucket (3) installing a large number of small holes through its peripheral surface, a perforated coarse filter (4) shaped into a reverse cup and attached detachably to the upper end opening of the bucket (3), and a minute filter (5) made of a sponge sheet and supported by pinching it with the coarse filter (4) on the upper end of the bucket (3).
