The invention relates to a centrifugal separator having a feed-line chann el (1) for a flow (S) which contains coarse and fine particles, a first disc harge channel (2) for a flow which contains predominantly coarse particles, a second discharge channel (3) for a flow which contains predominantly fine particles, and a separator space (4) having at least one separator device, w herein the separator space (4) connects the feed-line channel (1) to the fir st discharge channel (2) and the second discharge channel (3), and wherein t he feed-line channel (1), the separator space (4) and the two discharge chan nels (2, 3) form a flow path. In order to improve the degree of efficiency, the invention proposes that, as a first separator device (5), one or more co llector pockets (6) which protrude into the flow path are arranged in the se parator space (4). Furthermore, the invention relates to a corresponding met hod for separating a flow (S) which contains coarse and fine particles.
