<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection assistant apparatus capable of expanding a scope of a main mode which has higher security strength than an aggressive mode. <P>SOLUTION: The connection assistant apparatus which assists a client to establish a VPN between himself/herself and a gateway through IKE comprises a mode determination unit that receives the authentication ID of the client which is used for IKE, and determines whether a client's key exchange mode is a main mode or not on the basis of the authentication ID, a VPN setting request transmission unit that transmits a VPN setting request that contains information on a communication key which is used when the client performs IKE with the gateway, and a client IP address as an authentication ID to the gateway when the client's key exchange mode is a main mode, and a notification unit that notifies the client of the communication key and an IP address of the gateway when a response to the VPN setting request is received from the gateway, and the client and gateway perform IKE using information obtained from the connection assistant apparatus and establish the VPN. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
