PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein biometric authentication apparatus are susceptible of incorrect authentication operations due to a lack of understanding of operations and variations in actions and result in a low success rate of authentication determination. SOLUTION: A biometric authentication apparatus for implementing authentication based on biometric information comprises a biometric information acquisition part for acquiring biometric information from a user's predetermined region, an imaging part for imaging at least the predetermined region, an authentication part for performing authentication based on the biometric information, a guidance notification part for notifying operational guidance to the user, and a control part. When the biometric information acquisition part acquires the biometric information, the control part controls the imaging part to image the predetermined region as the user operates and acquire an authentication operation image, then compares the authentication operation image with a registered operation image of the predetermined region registered in advance, and controls the guidance notification part to notify the operational guidance in accordance with the comparison.
