发明名称 METHOD OF CHEMICAL CONVERSION OF LEAD-ACID BATTERY
摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective measure to rapid capacity drop caused in the first stage of charge and discharge cycle in a small high capacity type lead-acid battery for an automobile. SOLUTION:α-PbO<SB>2</SB>is produced only on a grid surface layer portion by sulfating with sulfuric acid of low specific gravity made by dissolving sulfate. Then, electrolyte solution is replaced with sulfuric acid of high specific gravity to promote sulfation again, andβ-PbO<SB>2</SB>based battery is made to secure high capacity. Using this technique,α-PbO<SB>2</SB>having extremely low utilization factor and hardly discharging is produced on the grid surface layer to suppress early capacity drop, and high capacity is secured by usingβ-PbO<SB>2</SB>based active material.
