PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability and wear resistance of a die molding face formed with a surface layer obtained by using a carbon-solid-soluted iron material in which carbon is solid-soluted in a supersaturated state. SOLUTION: The surface layer is formed on the molding face of a die by coating the molding face with a coating material obtained by kneading the powder of a carbon-solid-soluted iron material and a binder. The surface layer is subjected to debinder treatment for heating the surface layer in a pressurized state, sintering and shot peening treatment. By the debinder treatment, the die material and the surface layer are tightly stuck, and by the shot peening treatment, the hardness of the surface is increased and mechanical strength is enhanced.
