PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To an extruded, polystyrene-based resin foam plate having an ozone depletion potential of 0, a low global warming potential, excellent flame retardance and a low apparent density. SOLUTION: In the method for producing an extruded, polystyrene-based resin foam plate by kneading a polystyrene-based resin with a flame retardant and a blowing agent in an extruder to give a foamable melt mixture and extrusion foaming the mixture, the weight-average molecular weight of the polystyrene-based resin is 1.7×10<SP>5</SP>-3.1×10<SP>5</SP>, the ratio Mw/Mn of the weight-average molecular weight (Mw) to the number-average molecular weight (Mn) is≥2.5, 100 pts. by wt. of the polystyrene-based resin is mixed with 2-8 pts. by wt. of a carbonyl group-containing ethylene-based copolymer and a blowing agent composed of 60-100 mol% based on the total of the blowing agent of carbon dioxide and 40-0 mol% of another physical blowing agent (except chlorofluorohydrocarbons) is used as the blowing agent.
