PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system for displaying the jamming conditions of a recommended route or specified road on a display easily to comprehend. SOLUTION: Concerning the car navigation system having a map storage memory 3, CPU 4, display 8 and traffic information receiver 11, the CPU 4 operates the recommended route from the start point to the destination, detects the current position of a vehicle later and reads the map of roads around the current position to be displayed on the display 8 from the map storage memory 3. Next, the information of jamming is received by the traffic information receiver 11, only the jamming information related with the current position and the advancing direction of the current position is extracted from the received information and curved lines like contour lines prepared for every arrow display or jamming level are displayed so that the jamming conditions can be easily visually recognized. |
