A map information renewal system and a control method thereof are provided to update latest map information without a map server center or a repeater by providing ad-hoc network among vehicles. A map information renewal system comprises a map server center(20) and a terminal(100). The map server center(20) provides map information, and the terminal(100) updates the map information wirelessly transmitted by the map server center(20). The terminal(100) includes a GPS module(120), a wireless communication module(110), a controller(160) and a setup unit(170). The GPS module(120) receives current position information from a satellite. The wireless communication module(110) transmits or receives data to or from the map server center(20) or other terminal. The controller(160) receives the map information from the map server center(20) or other terminal, and updates the map information. The setup unit(170) enables a user to set up an update cycle for receiving latest map information. |
