A mobile communication terminal and a character display method thereof are provided to control size, color, and a degree of definition of displayed characters to display the controlled characters, in order to prevent contents of a text message which is being written from being easily read by other people. An input unit(110) generates an input signal for random characters. A display(130) displays a character corresponding to the input signal. A controller(140) controls the display, so that the display displays a character group to enable the character group to which the finally generated character corresponding to the input signal belongs to be recognized, and that the display displays other characters to prevent the other characters which do not belong to the character group from being recognized by the third party.
