A frequency domain equalizer for a dual antenna device is provided to equalize data symbols using coefficients of an equalizer by estimating channels using training symbols. A cellular wireless communication system includes a PSTN interface(101), a wireless network packet data network(102), a radio network controller/base station controller(152,154), and base stations(103,104,105,106). The wireless network packet data network is connected to private and public packet data networks(114). A voice terminal(121) is connected to the PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network)(110). A VoIP(Voice over Internet Protocol) terminal(123) and a personal computer(125) are connected to a WAN(Wide Area Network). The PSTN interface is coupled with the PSTN.
