An apparatus for recognizing a laser perforated image and a reading method of the apparatus are provided to restore a random number perforated image formed on a plate medium to the original image to determine whether the plate medium is forged. An apparatus for recognizing a laser perforated image includes a reading unit(120), an image restoration application unit(140) and a display unit(150). The reading unit reads a random number perforated image formed on a plate medium. The image restoration application unit applies a decoding function to the random number perforated image to restore the original image. The display unit displays the restored image.
