A display apparatus and a method for controlling the same are provided to inform a user of internal temperature by detecting the internal temperature of driving elements. A display apparatus includes a display panel(100), at least one or more drivers(210,220,230), a user interface generator(400), and a controller(500). The display panel displays images. The drivers include a temperature sensor. The controller compares temperature in the drivers generated from the temperature sensor with a predetermined reference value, and controls the user interface generator to display temperature error in the display panel when difference between the temperature and reference value is not in a range.
