A polarizing plate and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) are provided to implement high display quality by improving its durability at high temperature and humidity. In a polarizing plate, a first protection film(1a), a polarizer(2) and a second protection film(1b) are laminated in order of the first protection film, the polarizer and the second protection. The second protection film of a side facing an LC cell is a cellulose acylate film capable of functioning as a retardation film. A degree of permeability of the first protection film installed in an opposite side through the polarizer is below a predetermined value.
