[Also in Group XXXV] In a tank type suction cleaner having a filter 25 between a dirt-laden air inlet 8 and a motor fan unit' 9 within the cleaner body 1, a perforated cup 16 between the filter 25 and the unit 9 axially aligned with the opening 8. and having an imperforate convex area 18 opposite the inlet 8 provides a filter support and motor shield; the imperforate area 18 serving to deflect air around the cup 16 into an annular dust collecting pocket 29. A second imperforate area 21 protects motor brushes 22. The perforations may be circular or slotted. The filter 25 comprises a disposable bag and is held against a bell 26 by a gasket 28, and a surrounding cloth filter bag 23 is secured against a gasket 27. Clean air discharged through fan casing apertures 13 into a diffusion chamber 33 traverses a glass wool silencing ring 35 to an outlet 34. Specification 670,219 is referred to.
