<p>A mold clamp (10) has a drive (14) pivotally mounted on a first mold half (26). The drive (14) includes a cylinder body (36) and a piston (38), wherein one of the cylinder body (36) or the piston (38) is pivotally mounted to the first mold half (26) and the other has a pair of pins (50) and a locking plate (56) having an engagement face (64). A guide (18) directs the drive between a retracted position and an extended position. The guide (18) has a pair of spaced apart guide plates (70) mounted to the first mold half (26). Each guide plate (70) has an arcuate slot (72) slidably receiving the pins (50). An abutment (16) is mounted on a second mold half (62). The abutment (16) has a complementary engagement face (68) for cooperating with the engagement face (64) of the drive for enhancing engagement therebetween. When the drive is in the retracted position, the drive engages the abutment (16) to apply a closing force between the first mold half (26) and second mold half (62); when the drive is in the extended position, the drive is canted away from the first mold half (26) allowing reciprocating relative motion between the first mold half (26) and said second mold half (62). </p> |
