A cathode is provided to inhibit a drop in the initial irreversible capacity, to improve the stability by inhibiting generation of oxygen inside a battery, and to impart a high capacity to a battery. A cathode for a lithium battery comprises a cathode active material including: a composite represented by the formula of xLi2MO3-(1-x)LiMeO2 (wherein x is greater than 0 and equal to or less than 0.8; M is at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Mn, Ti and Zr; and Me is at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Al, Mg, Zr and B); and a transition metal oxide. |
