A method and an apparatus for diagnosing a throttle position sensor of a car are provided to determine instant binding of TPS(Throttle Position Sensor) based on TIA, MAP, MAF information, battery voltage, throttle breakdown diagnosis counter if an engine has no problem. A method for diagnosing a throttle position sensor of a car includes the steps of: diagnosing an engine when the engine is idling, engine speed information greater than a predetermined value, vehicle speed information less than a first predetermined value; and determining whether instant binding of TPS(Throttle Position Sensor) meets diagnosing conditions based on TIA information, MAF information, MAP information, battery information when the engine state information is normal. If instant binding error diagnosing conditions are satisfied, an ECU(Engine Control Unit) determines instant binding error of the TPS by using TIA, throttle duty value, and throttle breakdown diagnosis counter.
