A method for automatically adjusting the preset temperature of an air conditioner is provided to increase convenience of a user by adjusting the preset temperature according to automatically learned patterns without additional temperature manipulation when an automatic air adjustment mode is selected. A method for automatically adjusting the preset temperature of an air conditioner comprises a step of storing the external temperature and the internal temperature in the same index address of a memory when manual temperature manipulation is selected in an automatic air adjustment mode of an air conditioner. When the automatic air adjustment mode is selected, an index address of the memory, which stores the present external temperature, is searched. An index address of the memory, which stores the present internal temperature, is searched from the index address of the memory that stores the searched present external temperature.
