A power control device in a portable terminal and a method are provided to block power transmitted to an LNA(Low Noise Amplifier) when a satellite signal is received by using an external antenna, thereby preventing power from being unnecessarily wasted, consequently efficiency of power usage is increased. The first receiver(10) receives a GPS(Global Positioning System) satellite signal inside a portable terminal. The second receiver(20) receives a satellite signal received from an external GPS antenna. When the external GPS antenna is connected to a connector, a power supplier(30) blocks power transmitted to the first receiver as supplying power to the second receiver. A controller(34) controls power supply according to connection or disconnection of the external GPS antenna, and controls so that fine signals generated from the first receiver are blocked.
