A mobile terminal, a mobile communication system, a base station, and a communication method are provided to prevent collision of reservation request signals generated between mobile terminal without laying a burden on radio resources which can be allocated to transmit uplink traffic. A wireless transmitting unit(211) transmits a signal through radio resources allocated to a mobile terminal to transmit a certain control signal. When uplink traffic is generated, a signal switching unit(234) switches the signal transmitted through the allocated radio resources from the certain control signal to a reservation request signal. The radio resources allocated to the mobile terminal includes an uplink shared control channel which allocates the radio resources of a common uplink channel to a plurality of mobile terminals by changing at least one of a transmission period, frequency and a spreading code of radio resources of a common uplink channel, and an uplink individual control channel allocated to each mobile terminal.
