This invention relates to a process for the preparation of compounds of formula (I): where R^a, R^b, R¹, R², R³, R⁴, R⁵, R⁶, R⁷, R⁸, R⁹, and R¹⁰ are defined organic groups, the process comprising reaction a compound of formula (II): with a compound of formula (III): where R^c is as defined in relation to formula (I) followed by treatment with a base and cyclising the resulting adduct.
