A dual belt treadmill and a method for controlling the same are provided to solve body imbalance actively by controlling each speed of separated running bets according to body balance index computed from the measured total body weight and weights loaded on each leg. A dual belt treadmill comprises: running belt parts(14,16) comprising adjacently separated left and right belt; a pulley part comprising adjacently separated left and right pulley, each of which supports each running belt; a driving motor part comprising adjacently separated left and right driving motor, each of which makes each of the above pulleys operate; a controller part(22) to control speed of each driving motor separately; a measuring implement(18) which measures weights loaded on each leg and total body weight to display a body balance index computed from the measured data.
