A DM(Device Management) system and a method of controlling the device management system are provided to prevent denial of service attack by a DM client which fails in session matching with a DM server due to an error in a notification message. A DM server generates unique authentication information including previously stored identification information of a device when a predetermined user requests the DM server to control the device. A basic authentication information including a setting value for setting communication between the DM server and a DM client for controlling the operation of the device is generated. The unique authentication information and the basic authentication information are added to a notification message and transmitted to the DM client(S40). Authentication through the unique authentication information is attempted when the DM client fails in authentication of the basic authentication information. When the DM client fails in authentication of the unique authentication information, the DM client discards the notification message(S56). |
