An apparatus and a method for monitoring video channels and audio channels in terrestrial DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) are provided to monitor plural audio channels and plural video channels, thereby easily checking defective states of signals. A terrestrial DMB tuner(40) receives a terrestrial DMB RF signal from an antenna(10), and extracts an information signal of video and audio signals, which are compressed in the DMB RF signal. A terrestrial DMB decoder(50) receives the information signal from the terrestrial DMB tuner, and selects an information signal for two video signals and an information signal for three audio signals. Two video channels and three audio channels are selected by the DMB RF signal received from the terrestrial DMB tuner. A main controller(80) controls that images included in the two channels are simultaneously outputted through first and second video output units(90,100), sounds of the video channels are simultaneously outputted through a video sound output units(110) in synchronization with the outputted images, and sounds included in the three audio channels are simultaneously outputted through an audio sound output unit(120).
