<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curable composition for color filters which cures with high sensitivity, has good pattern forming property and excels in adhesion to a hard surface which is a substrate, even when the composition contains a colorant at high concentration, a color filter with a colored pattern excellent in resolution and adhesion to a support by use of the curable composition for color filters, and a production method by which the color filter can be produced with high productivity. <P>SOLUTION: The curable composition for color filters contains (A) a diaryl iodonium salt having a total of three or more electron-donating groups on one or two aryl rings, (B) a photopolymerizable compound and (C) a colorant.
