A fusion splicer is provided to fuse members to both sides of a base member by using an automated system in which a heating process and a cooling process are integrated. A fusion splicer(A) includes a mounting board(100), a base transfer unit(200), a fixing unit(300), a heating unit, a cooling unit(500), and a controller(600). The mounting board has a surface on which a base member(102) with side surfaces attached with fusing members(103) is mounted. The base transfer unit transfers the mounting board along a predetermined path. The fixing unit includes a fixing plate(321) for fixing the base member and fixing plate cylinders(312,322) for transferring the fixing plate. The heating unit includes a heating plate for emitting heat, and a heating plate cylinder for transferring the heating plate such that heat from the heating plate is applied to the fusing members. The cooling unit includes a cooling plate for emitting cool air, and a cooling plate cylinder for transferring the cooling plate such that the cool air from the cooling plate is applied to the base member heated by the heating unit. The controller controls operation of each unit.
