摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transflective liquid crystal device which has a simple constitution as well as with which can display a high-quality and wide-viewing angle display is conducted. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device has glass substrates 11, 21 placed opposite to each other and a liquid crystal 40. A common electrode 23t, a pixel electrode 24t, laminated on the common electrode 23t with an interlayer insulating layer 33 interposed in between, and a TFT element 22t, are formed on a transmissive display section 4t on the glass substrate 21. A reflecting layer 29, a common electrode 23r, a pixel electrode 24r, and a TFT element 22r are formed on a reflective display section 4r on the glass substrate 21. The common electrode 23r and the pixel electrode 24r are formed on an identical layer, and the reflecting layer 29 is not formed on a region, overlapping the common electrode 23r or the pixel electrode 24r. The liquid crystal 40 is driven by a lateral electric field, and the transmissive display section 4t and the reflective display section 4r are driven with positive and negative inversion. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
