<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarized light converting element and a polarized light converting member which have small number of parts and can reduce the complexities of manufacturing processes. <P>SOLUTION: Since a reflection type polarized light converting film 27 has the function of converting a polarization direction of at least a part of s-polarized light emitted from a polarized light separation film 26 to a polarization direction of p-polarized light (a function of retardation plate) and a function of emitting the p-polarized light with a converted polarization direction, from the polarized light converting element 23 after reflection (a function of a reflecting film), the retardaing plate and the reflecting film in conventional constitution can be constituted as one member to dispense with individual provision. As a result, the number of parts of the polarized light conversion element 23 can be reduced and complicatedness of the manufacturing processes can be reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
