SHEET HANDLING DEVICE, BOOKBINDING DEVICE, AND IMAGE FORMATION DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a device from being frequently stopped by an empty state of a consumable material and a full state of sheets after processing, and a processing residue in continuously processing the sheets.

SOLUTION: This sheet handling device is provided with: a sheet carrier means carrying sheets from a sheet feed port to a predetermined processing position; a sheet processing means applying predetermined processing to the sheets; a stack means housing the sheets after the processing; and a control means of them. The control means is provided with: (1) a detection means detecting a full state of the stack means; (2) a detection means detecting presence of the consumable material in the processing means; and (3) a detection means detecting a full state of the processing residue generated by the processing means. The detection means are composed of sensors detecting the full or empty state and its near state; when one of a sheet jam detection means and the plurality of state detection means detects the full or empty state, the sheet processing operation is stopped or prohibited; and when another state detection means is in a near state, the sheet processing operation can be continued when the near state is terminated.
