PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust heat recovering unit, capable of preventing breakage of a communicating portion due to freezing of working fluid. SOLUTION: This exhaust heat recovering unit comprises an evaporating portion 1, disposed in an exhaust gas passage for distributing an exhaust gas discharged from an engine for exchanging heat between the evaporatable or condensible exhaust gas and the working fluid sealed inside, and evaporating the working fluid; and a condensing portion 2, disposed in a cooling water passage for distributing the cooling water for the engine for exchanging heat between the working fluid evaporated in the evaporating portion 1 and the cooling water, and condensing the working fluid, the evaporating portion 1 has a working fluid flow channel R3, in which the working fluid passes; and a freeze delay flow channel R2 through which the working fluid passes, and which has a cross-sectional area larger than the working fluid flow channel R3. The working fluid flow channel R3 and the freeze delay flow channel R2 comprise a plurality of heat pipes 3a, 3c, disposed in parallel with each other to allow the working fluid to flow substantially in the vertical direction, and a header 5 connected with end portions of the heat pipes 3a, 3c.
