PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an epoxy resin composition having the properties that (1) the composition composed of an epoxy resin and a curing agent has low viscosity at room temperature, so the blending of the curing agent and the main agent can be favorably performed, (2) the curing agent has low vapor pressure at curing temperature, and thus no evaporation loss occurs after curing, and the intended design of the thermosetting resin composition is possible, and (3) a cured product made from the composition is colorless and transparent, and the change of its color is slight even when the product is irradiated with light or heated for a long time period, and suitably usable as an encapsulant for a photoelectric conversion element such as a blue LED or a white LED. SOLUTION: The present invention provides a new acid anhydride ester prepared by esterifying cyclohexane-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid-1,2-anhydride, a curing agent containing the acid anhydride ester and a thermosetting resin composition containing the acid anhydride ester and a compound having an epoxy ring.
