PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a collection/separation mechanism while keeping collection/separation performance of banknotes highly reliable. SOLUTION: In a banknote handling device provided with: a space storing banknotes; a banknote carrying means introducing the banknotes into the space and delivering the banknotes from the space; a banknote guide guiding the banknotes in the introduction and the delivery; and a banknote restriction means pressing the banknotes in the space, the banknote restriction means descends in the space sideward direction of the banknote guide by its own weight, and a banknote deformation provision member providing rigidity to the banknotes by pushing up the banknote restriction means having descended is provided.
