<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starting system for a vehicle for enhancing the security of the vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The engine starting system 10 for the vehicle comprises an engine control unit 20 controlling an engine of the vehicle, and a vehicle element control unit 30 controlling a vehicle element 3 other than the engine 2. The vehicle element control unit 30 has a read only memory 32 configured to store immobilizer information indicating the presence of an immobilizer unit 50 for determining the authenticity of a key 6 of the vehicle prior to the mounting of the vehicle element control unit 30 to the vehicle. The engine control unit 20 stores the immobilizer information, and when an ignition switch of the vehicle is turned on, the propriety of starting the engine 2 is determined by collating each immobilizer information stored in the engine control unit 20 with the read only memory 32. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
