PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biodegradable resin composite material obtained by sufficiently uniformly exfoliating/dispersing a layered silicate in a polylactic acid, and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This polylactic acid composite material is obtained by finding that in the case of adding both of a multi-functional epoxy compound and the layered silicate organically modified with a positively electric charged organic compound, the exfoliating and dispersing property of the layered silicate in the polylactic acid matrix is improved by leaps and bounds as compared with the case of adding only the layered silicate organically modified with the positively electric charged organic compound. Thus, the composite material contains the polylactic acid, the layered silicate organically modified with the positively electric charged organic compound and the multi-functional epoxy compound.
