PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a high reliability by accurately detecting an initial failure of a piezoelectric element. SOLUTION: To an inkjet recording head which ejects ink liquid droplets from a plurality of nozzles when a drive voltage is applied to separate piezoelectric elements prepared correspondingly to the plurality of nozzles, a capacitance is measured by applying a low voltage and a high voltage to the separate piezoelectric elements (steps 102-108), and generation of deflection/generation of separation/normal state of the piezoelectric elements is detected on the basis of the capacitance according to each voltage level (steps 110-120).
