PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal dividing device and a method that can make signal division of a signal sequence high speed. SOLUTION: The property that when a similarity by a histogram difference is used, the similarity can be calculated from the movement amount of a search window without being calculated by actually moving the search window is extended to a similarity between two search windows used for the signal division. A lower-limit value of similarities of search windows nearby the search window is calculated and processing for a section wherein the similarity is never below a threshold is skipped to perform the signal division fast.
