PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent starting trouble caused by tracking delay of a motor for exclusive use without producing slackness of weft yarns when starting of a loom in the loom equipped with a selvedge device starting operation by idling start accompanying low-speed rotation for preventing weaving bars, and driven by the motor for exclusive use. SOLUTION: A controller for the motor for exclusive use is designed to perform first control for driving in a synchronous driving state to a corresponding main shaft angle during weaving operation, second control for releasing the synchronous driving and keeping the motor for exclusive use in a stopped state, and third control for releasing the synchronous driving and keeping the motor for exclusive use in a driving state of normal rotation. The controller for the motor for exclusive use performs the second control in a step of rotating the main shaft at a low speed, starts the third control during empty weaving operation at latest, and starts the first control during the period of the subsequent empty weaving operation at latest or till a determined period set during from the period after the start of the weaving operation to the completion of one cycle.
