APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ANSWERING VOICE CALL DURING DATA TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING IN PORTABLE TERMINAL

A method and an apparatus for responding to a voice call during packet data transmission/reception in a mobile terminal are provided to recognize a call which has been generated while transmitting/receiving packet data and thus failed to be received and respond to it. When data is transmitted or received using a packet service, a timer(104) measures a pre-set time. A controller(100) controls a function of pausing packet data transmission/reception and searching a 51MF(MultiFrame) paging channel whenever the timer expires. When an absent call notification message is received according to the result of the paging channel search result, a display unit(106) displays a message informing a user that the absent call has been generated. After searching the paging channel, the controller(100) controls a function of resuming the paused packet data transmission/reception.
