PHOTOCATALYTIC BODY, METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME AND PHOTOCATALYTIC BODY COATING AGENT PRODUCED BY USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photocatalytic body exhibiting high activity when irradiated with visible light and a method for producing a photocatalytic body coating agent.

SOLUTION: A method for producing the photocatalytic body having tungsten oxide or niobium oxide on the surface of titanium oxide and ≥55 m2/g BET specific surface area comprises the steps of: reacting at ≤60°C a titanium compound in a titanium compound aqueous solution with ammonia or amine of ≥1.2 times the stoichiometric amount required to convert the titanium compound into titanium hydroxide to obtain a product; firing the obtained product at ≤600°C to obtain titanium oxide; bringing the obtained titanium oxide into contact with a solution or slurry of a tungsten compound or a niobium compound to cover titanium oxide with the titanium or niobium compound; and firing the titanium or niobium compound-covered titanium oxide at ≤600°C. The photocatalytic body coating agent is produced by dispersing the photocatalytic body produced by this producing method in a solvent.
