PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IC card capable of updating efficiently stored biological information.

SOLUTION: The IC card 2 having a nonvolatile memory for storing a reference data (biological information) in biometric authentication is constituted to execute a step SC1 for authenticating a principal based on input collation information and the stored biological information, a step SC5 for determining the propriety of satisfying a prescribed updating condition when determined to be authenticated, a step SC6 for outputting immediately a determination result allowing authentication when determined not to satisfy the updating condition, a step SC7 for updating the stored biological information, using the input collation information, when determined to satisfy the updating condition, and a step SC9 for outputting the determination result allowing the authentication.
