<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser-decomposable resin composition usable also in the form of a thick film, having high engraving sensitivity and enabling efficient engraving with a low laser energy and provide a pattern-forming material produced by using the composition. <P>SOLUTION: The laser-decomposable resin composition contains (A) a compound having at least one structure selected from a carboxy group and a carboxylic acid anhydride structure and at least one hetero atom selected from N, S and O atoms other than the structure, and (B) a binder polymer.
