PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold for lens substrate forming which can form a lens substrate excellent in utilization efficiency of light and viewing angle characteristics, a manufacturing method which can manufactures the mold for lens substrate forming efficiently, a lens substrate excellent in utilization efficiency of light, a transmission type screen and a rear type projection TV. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of a mold for lens substrate forming comprises: a process which prepares a member 6 with recesses having a large number of recesses 61 of a spherical surface configuration; a process which uses the member with recesses as a mold and forms a member with spherical surface projections having a large number of spherical surface projections of a spherical surface configuration corresponding to the configuration of the recesses 61 of the member with recesses; a process which eliminates a part of a spherical surface projection thereby forms an aspheric surface projection of an aspheric surface configuration and forms a member with an aspheric surface projection; and a process which uses a member with an aspheric surface projection as a mold and obtains a mold for lens substrate forming having a recess of a configuration corresponding to an aspheric surface projection.
